Sandy, “Who, What and Why”

Me…..this is about me….hmmm.  So this is the first place  of exposure  for us writers, or wanna be writers. I would like to call myself a writer but I’m not sure I’ve made it yet. What constitutes having achieved the right to give yourself such a title? Sometime down the road as I commit myself to blogging I hope to figure that one out.  I’ve been writing since I was young, but threw most of it away as I thought no one would be interested. When  my husband, Steve,  started reading my work, he asked what I had been doing with my writing. I told him. He was extremely  upset with me. He made me promise not to throw any more away. He then encouraged me to keep it in a book. I did and liked what I had done so I decided to put it together in a book for my children. Steve  has been right behind me all the way in this project. Of course, the more I write and read, the more I learn about writing. So, the main goal of this project, “Project Blog” is to learn all I can about writing. The second part of my goal is to bring my readers enjoyment, entertainment, and information. I hope I can succeed in both of those. Now, a little more about me and what I think, qualifies me as a writer.

I’m a wife, a mom and a grammie. I love dogs especially, but all other animals too. I’ve been a Dog Foster Mom for about six years working with two Rescue Organizations. My husband and I were 4-H leaders for about fifteen years, teaching Dog Care and Training to children. This was an awesome experience. After doing the dog training we switched to helping in the 4-H Horse program. This also proved to be so inspiring, sometimes hectic, very informative, and just plain fun.

Together, my husband and I have raised seven children. We both love kids and have designed our life around working with them in one way or another.

My passions are my husband, my children, grandchildren,  my dogs and my home.  My husband is the love of my life, my best friend, my ally,  and my co-conspirator.

I love decorating (as  in interior) and design. I play around with jewelry design, painting, crafts, gardening, sewing, and the big one, writing.

My favorite place to go is the Ocean Beaches and I would rather be camping than anything else. Oh, lets put that in the proper perspective. I would rather be camping in my TRAVEL TRAILER.  Yes, that fits the bill nicely. I’m afraid I need my bed and bath these days. The tents and sleeping on the ground is better left to the young ones.

And lastly, I am a firm believer in God and our Country, the American Flag and the Constitution.

That’s me in a nutshell. I am a simple person, somewhat of an introvert, OCD challenged, possibly a hoarder, but very down to earth. I still have dreams, even at my age ,and goals to meet. This project is part of those.

What qualifies me to write?  In short EXPERIENCE. I write about things I know, things I’ve done, and things I’ve learned through the years. Experience is our best teacher. One experience taught me plenty. For a period of time in late 2012 and 2013  I lost my eye site. I had cataracts that came on very suddenly and progressed quickly. For that period of time I was nearly blind. I learned what it was not to be able to see colors, to see the beauty around me, to see my grand babies faces. So things had to be described to me. I want to write in a manner that would allow my reader to see, even if they were without sight, exactly what I am seeing. The colors, shapes, the depths of beauty all around. I want to write like that. I want it to have meaning, and spirit, and soul. That’s what I want to do.  If I can give that experience to my readers I will be extremely happy.I want to make a difference. I hope to accomplish this through my writing.

Thank you for taking an interest and reading this and I’d like to wish you all encouragement and lots of  enticing subject material to spur you on in this writing adventure  we have all dove into.

A productive day wished to you all,

Sandy

  1. Hi Sandy! I love how you described your home, family, and husband most especially. I feel like you love him so dearly. I’m happy when I see healthy relationships.

I am the youngest of 9 children, and I saw our mother try her best raising us all. So when you mentioned your children, I was immediately in awe of you. I think it’s amazing what mothers can do.

Also, is your eyesight back to normal? It’s great that you decided to write, you know. Even if it’s not perfect.. I think sharing your life story or whatever interests you in the moment is good. I love to read and I think people are fascinating… so I believe each story matters a lot.

So glad to have found your blog today. God bless you. 🙂

    • Liz,
Thank you so much for reading my post and about me. And thank you for your wonderful comments. I was one of five myself and in the middle and I just can’t even imagine be the youngest of nine. However, being the youngest I can only guess that you learned so much from all the others and their experiences. Obviously, compassion is one of your traits which is truly a wonderful trait to have. Yes, I do love my husband so much, with every fiber of my being and being a mom was the most important and rewarding things I have ever done. Yes, my eyesight is back to normal, thank you. I did write a poem, Forevermore, that tells how that experience affected me. I hope you will read it. Thank you again and I look forward to reading more of your posts.
